Our optometrists are accredited to provide glaucoma screening to ensure the early detection of glaucoma and NHS referral refinement to prevent unnecessary referral to hospital care where convenient monitoring in our practices is an alternative.
We have the most modern equipment to measure eye pressure (no puffs of air any more!) visual field testing and 3D optic nerve assessment, including the latest Optical Coherence Tomography or OCT scanner, to detect any minute changes in the optic nerve.
The OCT scanner can also adjust eye pressure measurement where there are inaccuracies due to the thickness of the cornea and prevent unnecessary referral or indeed make an early referral where appropriate.
We work with our local NHS trust hospitals and locally commissioned NHS schemes as well as local private hospitals to provide these services. We also take referrals from other opticians where they are not able to provide these services themselves
